PAC-Net Massachusetts SPHERE works closely with a variety of health and human service providers around their efforts to integrate HIV/Hepatitis C/harm reduction education, assessment, prevention and services into their work. Our relationships with providers are based in our respect and support for the work they do and the services they offer. Our collaborations begin in our shared commitment: HIV/Hepatitis C integration benefits the people who seek their services and participate in their programs. PAC-Net Meetings Fall/Winter 2008 In Massachusetts - PACs In Massachusetts, we work primarily with alcohol and drug (AOD) treatment programs, individually and collectively, through their Program HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis C Coordinators (PACs). The Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS) requires each of its funded programs to designate an individual to be a PAC. The PAC is SPHERE’s liaison with a specific program. A PAC’s primary responsibility is to help her/his agency comply with the BSAS HIV/AIDS Guidelines. PACs attend meeting of their statewide network: PAC-Net. BSAS contracts with SPHERE to provide PACs with training, technical assistance, and resources needed to support their onsite HIV/Hepatitis C integration activities, as well as to sponsor and facilitate PAC-Net meetings. These standards established training requirements for HIV, Hepatitis C and harm reduction. The Standards also set HIV integration benchmarks for programs to meet.
