Tools for Support Staff to Create Conversations

For homeless services staff, the Statewide Homeless/HIV Integration Project (SH/HIP) finds and develops resources to support your efforts to bring HIV/AIDS into your work. Resources are designed to support you to:

  • Create HIV conversations with homeless individuals
  • Offer HIV support to homeless individuals

Tools for providers are designed with you in mind. Many tools are developed as a result of your requests and ideas.

  • Offering individual one-on-one education
  • Reinforcing staff education
  • Creating an environment open to HIV discussion

Our sister program, SPHERE, has many tools for drug and alcohol treatment providers to use in their HIV integration efforts, including an assortment  of “Cue Cards” on a variety of topics . For Providers Who Work with GLBT Youth

For providers who work with homeless youth, the GLBT Youth Support Project (GLYS) may have resources, training and technical assistance that would benefit your work.  GLYS’ mission is to ensure safe and supportive communities for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning (GLBTQ) youth. For Health and Human Service Providers who Work with GLBTQ People

OutHealth! provides training and on-going technical support to health and human service providers to assist them in providing culturally competent care to LGBTQ people by reducing the impact of discrimination, enhancing the skills of providers, and supporting agencies in creating and implementing welcoming and appropriate programs, policies, and services for LGBTQ adults and their families.
