Visioning Visioning leverages the knowledge and skills of your team to move your project forward.
The Visioning phase is a preliminary process that develops a high-level concept of what the desired conclusion of the project will look like after it has been implemented. When a vision is developed before the project gets underway, it provides clear direction and guidance for the project team. Visioning will identify project stakeholders and define their roles. The sessions usually look at all aspects of a solution, and can answer questions such as:
- Who are the stakeholders?
- Who are the decision makers?
- Will the project create new roles or modify existing ones?
- Will training be involved?
- Will technical support be required?
- What locations or facilities will be involved?
- What data is needed and who does it need to be shared with?
- What are the timeline and budget constraints?
Assessment The Assessment phase is a process that analyzes the ability of your team to achieve the project’s goals. It looks at the current environment of your team that is concerned with the scope of the project. It compares that with the vision and identities the gap between what you have now and what you need by the end of the project. | Capacity Building The Capacity Building phase is a process that defines how the organization and the project team will obtain the resources it needs to implement the project. These needs are identified in the Assessment phase and can affect any aspect of the project. Common capacity building activities may result in writing a grant proposal to procure additional funding, providing training for staff or other key stakeholders, purchasing new technology or other resources, or obtaining office space for the project team. This phase may also encompass defining how the project team will proceed without resources that cannot be obtained within the project’s budget or timeline. Implementation The Implementation phase encompasses all the activities needed to reach the project’s goals. In addition to the specific activities needed to implement the goals, The Outcomes Project staff can help with project management, coaching, collecting statistics, and communicating with stakeholders.
Evaluation The Evaluation phase may be implemented as a specific phase or it may be embedded throughout the project. When implemented as a specific phase it is placed at strategic points in the project to conduct a formal review of some aspect of the process. It is common to end a project with an Evaluation phase to determine what worked well and what can be improved upon before implementing a similar project. It is highly desirable to embed evaluation throughout the life of the project, especially of the project is several months long or longer. Monitoring quality and project status on a continuous basis can allow the project team to implement changes that will improve the results of the current project. |
