Course Description

Supporting GLBTQ youth in school or community-based agency settings can provide some unique challenges. Unsupportive administrations, family opposition, lack of comfort with talking about adolescent sexuality, or even a lack of resources can get in the way of providing the support GLBTQ youth need to live healthy and productive lives.

The course will address sexual orientation and gender identity development and expression in adolescents, skills for providing one-on-one support for GLBTQ youth, strategies for supporting families when a young person comes out, and approaches for creating a safe, supportive environment for GLBTQ young people.

This is a hands-on, interactive course based on GLBT 101: Risk and Resiliency, one of our most popular in-person trainings.

Intended Audience

This course is designed for educators, educational administrators, and community-based health and human service providers working with youth.

  • Develop skills for providing one-on-one support to GLBTQ youth;
