Family-Related Services and Care - A Critical New Framework for
Promoting Well-Being and Reducing Risk for LGBT Youth

Keynote speaker:
Caitlin Ryan, PhD, MSW
Director of Adolescent Health Initiatives at the
César E. Chávez Institute at San Francisco State University

This day-long training is designed for providers and educators at any level of experience in working with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. The only requirement for participation is a commitment to creating safe environments and providing support to GLBTQ youth and their families.

Other topics for the day include:

  • Creating safety and support for transgender and gender-variant youth
  • Supporting healthy relationships among GLBTQ youth
  • Building community collaborations to support GLBTQ youth
  • Using harm reduction to support GLBTQ youth
  • And many others

Build your skills for supporting GLBTQ youth, connect with others doing similar work, find local resources to support GLBTQ youth and their families and share challenges and successes.

The first 15 people registered will receive a copy of either:

  • The full Spectrum: A New Generation of Writing About Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Other Identities by David Levithan and Billy Merrell

or

  • GLBTQ: The Survival Guide for Queer and Questioning Teens by Kelly Huegel

Registration is $50/person and includes lunch, materials and Continuing Education Units/Certificates of Attendance.

The GLBT Youth Support Project Mission
To ensure safe and supportive communities for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning (GLBTQ) youth. The GLBT Youth Support Project provides training and on-going support for educators and health and human service providers to assist them in implementing welcoming and appropriate programs, policies, and services for these young people and their families.
