What is it? The vaccine works to prevent cervical cancer, precancerous or dysplastic lesions, and genital warts caused by HPV (human papilloma virus) Types 6, 11, 16, and 18. It is a series of (3) injections given over the course of six months.

How does it work? It works like “the pill” by
releasing a hormone that stops the release of an egg from your ovary and thickens cervical mucus which acts as a barrier to prevent sperm from
fertilizing an egg.
What are the advantages?
- Does not contain estrogen
- More than 99% Effective
- Works for up to (3) years! Don’t need to do anything once it’s inserted
- Cannot see it – does not show up under arm
- Reversible – easily removed and ability to get pregnant usually returns quickly
What are the disadvantages?

- Does not protect against Sexually Transmitted Infections or HIV

Counseling and testing available at most sites and soon to be available at all sites. We offer both rapid and standard testing. Rapid testing –finger stick with preliminary HIV results in 20 minutes or Standard testing - oral mucosal swab with preliminary HIV result in two weeks.
Emergency Contraception now available over-the counter for people over the age of 18 and as an appointment for those under the age of 18.
