Each year thousands of individuals are reached through Division of Prevention and Community Services programs.  To achieve its mission, the Division provides training and education services, technical assistance, resources and other services to the community.

The Division of Prevention and Community Services assists professionals, community residents, and coalitions to conceive, create, deliver, and enhance services that promote healthy communities, populations, and individuals.

Area Health Education Center of Southeastern Massachusetts (AHEC)

The goals of the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of Southeastern Massachusetts are to: Promote diversity within health professions;  Support training of health care professionals and students with a focus on, underserved communities; Provide information and resources, educational opportunities and technical assistance to health care workers, provider agencies and educational institutions to reduce isolation, increase retention and enhance the practice environment for health care workers; and Promote improved health and increase culturally and linguistically-competent, locally relevant disease prevention efforts that focus on populations and localities in greatest need

 

Communities Mobilizing For Change (CMCA)

 

Department of Education and Training (DET)

The Department of Education and Training (DET) provides training, consultation and education to schools and youth-serving organizations throughout the region.  Specialized programs include the Living With HIV Program and The Parent Education Project.  Staff in the DET are available for classroom education, teacher/staff trainings, and technical assistance in program, curriculum and policy development.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Youth Project (GLYS)  

GLYS was established to ensure welcoming and safe environments in youth serving agencies for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth who are significantly more likely than their peers to face threats, attempt suicide and abuse substances. 

Statewide Partnership for HIV Education in Recovery Environments (SPHERE)  

Offers on-site local, regional, and statewide support services to Massachusetts Department of Public Health-funded substance abuse treatment programs, AIDS service providers, community health centers and other agencies serving  people living with/at risk for HIV/AIDS. 

Southeast Center for Healthy Communities (SCHC)

a community-based organization that provides regional resources, and capacity building in support of healthier communities.  

 

Teen Outreach Program (TOP)

 

The David H. Mulligan Center for Health Promotion

The David H. Mulligan Center for Health Promotion is a service of Prevention and Community Services, a Division of Health Care of Southeastern Massachusetts, Inc.  Named in honor of the former Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner, the Center offers conferences, workshops, trainings, institutes, and seminars designed to meet the evolving needs of those we serve.
