WORKSHOP TOPICS CONTINUED:
Peer Leader Workshops - This series of workshops motivates peer leaders to take an active role in addressing problems of sexual harassment, rape, and domestic and dating violence. Participants learn techniques to raise awareness among their peers, challenge their thinking, and empower themselves as bystanders who can confront abusive peers. An overview of domestic and dating violence and sexual assault are included.
Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender Communities Violence Doesn't Discriminate - This workshop is an overview of same-sex domestic and dating violence. Topics include the cycle of violence as it relates to the GBLT community, specific factors that put the GBLT community at higher risk to violence, and myths and misconceptions around same-sex domestic and dating violence. In addition, we will discuss the connection between domestic and dating violence and other forms of violence including homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia oppression and abuse. Age specific presentations are available for teens, college students, and adults.
Domestic Violence in the Workplace - A high percentage of battered women experience problems at work due to the abuse they suffer. Domestic violence cost businesses and estimated three to five billion dollars annually in lost wages, benefits, and productivity. This workshop is specifically for business corporations who want to create a safe, supportive work environment for all their employers and explore the connections between employee productivity and domestic violence. An overview of domestic violence is included.
