What can I expect?
A New Day counselors know that asking for counseling is a brave step in the healing process. Our counselors have been trained in supporting individuals who have been victims of interpersonal violence and need assistance in learning healthy coping skills, reducing triggers, positive communication and many other aspects of regaining your own power and voice.

A New Day counselors work through the empowerment model. They can help you understand your options and their outcomes and allow you to choose your own path.  A New Day counselors believe in the importance of regaining your own power and voice.

What is counseling like?
Most counseling sessions last approximately 1 hour.  All of your sessions are a safe and confidential space to share your thoughts and feelings.  You will not be judged or asked to talk about anything you don't want to.  Counseling isn't always just talking - your counselor might ask if you want to create artwork, use clay, or play a game.  These are different ways of showing how you feel.

Services for children
A New Day provides an array of services to families dealing with the sexual abuse of their child/children:

Cutting edge individual counseling with an L.I.C.S.W., family counseling which includes education on trauma reactions, dealing and supporting your child though this crime, as well as both medical and legal advocacy for the whole family. One of our most successful services is our parents support group that is led by a trauma specialist as well as parents who have been through this experience and are now on the other side. We are here to support you through every aspect of this crime!

If you suspect a child has been sexually assaulted, please call A New Day for a noninvasive assessment. You do not have to diagnose the issue on your own. Our licensed clinical staff can assist you in creating safety for the child.
