Welcome to Health Imperatives

Health Imperatives is a non-profit community based agency that provides vital public health and human services to more than 30,000 families and individuals in Southeastern Massachusetts, the Cape, and Islands each year. For more than 35 years we have offered a continuum of safety, prevention, and intervention services and have worked with vulnerable populations to create healthy, safe, and vibrant families and communities.

Study Shows Bullying Affects Mental Health for Years
Boston Children’s Hospital researchers tracking 4,300 kids from grade 5 through grade 10 found that those who experienced bullying on a weekly basis were more likely to be in poor mental health — depressed, angry, anxious, or sad — compared to those who were never bullied. Kids who experienced bullying during the entire study were the worst off. <<read more>>

Remembering Victims of DV Homicides in 2013
For the past 21 years, the Boston Globe published a year end "In Memoriam" to honor those who were killed in Domestic Violence related homicides in the prior 12 months. This year the Globe asked Jane Doe Inc., the MA Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, to submit their own reflections on this topic. <<read more>>

Health Imperatives' Elizabeth Torrant and Elizabeth Jones were quoted in the recent article, "MTV reality show strikes nerve."
The article explores a recent study that makes the case that the MTV reality show, "16 & Pregnant" cut the teen birthrate by almost 6% in 2010.

Silpada Party a Fun Evening For All
