Health Imperatives is a non-profit community based agency that provides vital public health and human services to more than 30,000 families and individuals in Southeastern Massachusetts, the Cape, and Islands each year. For more than 35 years we have offered a continuum of safety, prevention, and intervention services and have worked with vulnerable populations to create healthy, safe, and vibrant families and communities.

Parents of Slain Teen Dedicated to Ending Dating Violence
MA residents may recall the name Lauren Astley, an 18-year-old Wayland High School grad killed by her former boyfriend, who was still enraged that she had broken up with him in the spring. Her parents have since become regional and national activists on the issue of dating violence, but it is only since the trial ended in March 2013 that they have taken their cause public. <<read more>>

Farmers Markets
Did you know that WIC can be used at local farmers' markets? HI participated in an event on 7/17/14 in Plymouth as part of a statewide farmers' market tour. These events are meant to increase access to healthy foods across the region. To learn more, click here.

Health Imperatives in the News
HI has been featured in two news stories regarding recent Supreme Court rulings. The first strikes down a buffer zone around abortion clinics and the second allows some corporations to use religion objections to opt out of a new health law requirement to pay for women's birth control.
